Improvements
The LCTIP worked closely with Metra, Pace, and the RTA staff to develop transit proposals that represent reasonable projects for Lake County. The types of improvements identified for consideration in the rail system include commuter rail service on the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern railroad, signal improvements on the Milwaukee District North Line, and consolidation of freight services on the Union Pacific freight line. Improvements for bus service include express and local services. The proposals also include improvements that provide better opportunities for connections between services and modes. These improvements represent opportunities to enhance transit as part of an overall solution.
